Uncle Jer's Birthday

Over the holiday weekend we had much to celebrate.  On Saturday we celebrated Jeremy's birthday and Josh's going-away (for the next year).  On Sunday we (including our Detroit fam) all trekked to Grand Rapids to celebrate Oma's {"grandma" in Dutch} fabulous 86th birthday.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pics from Sunday.  I know, I'm so bummed, but if you were there you knew how chaotic it was.  Six hours of total driving in one day, barely any naps, heat rash from the little guy, a swollen eye from our girl, and me forcing benadryl on on the kids on the way home to hopefully get a little nap out of all.  We got about 30 minutes.  So no pics, but some really great memories of getting all of the family together, Grand Rapids side too!

So, back to Saturday, I did get to take a few pics.  In our Detroit-style, we celebrated with a gourmet lunch catered by Leo's Coney Island (classy chili dogs and fries, you may recall we had it for Eric's bday party last year) and just had some simple family hanging out time which can often mean more than any fancy and organized party.

does not look safe, but we were good
