We took Avery to Sesame Street Live. And it was an experience. For all three of us.
We had no idea what we were in for.
A lot of my pictures are pretty poor since it was really dark and I didn't bring my flash. But I think you'll get the idea....

At this point Avery was totally confused and had no idea what we really coming. Either did we!
Of course had to get the overly popular Elmo light up wand. There was one for almost every other seat in the house. (side note: she slept with it during her nap that afternoon. while it was lit. wouldn't put it down)
DRUMROLL PLEASE.......
To see it through Avery's eyes was incredible. I was unbelievably excited for her to be excited. When Big Bird first entered the stage I couldn't stop looking at her for her reaction. Eric and I were both just staring at her. And she was in awe.

The Main Man. Elmo.

Abby Cadabby - loved in our household.

Zoe (also loved in our household) came right next to us numerous times. Avery was too nervous to go up to her though.

Just wanted to get a shot of Cookie Monster in there. He's not big time these days. He's hanging out with Grover in the "has been" club.
There was this underwater portion with Bert's dream to swim in the ocean. This is a bit more extreme then I remember Sesame Street Live in our day.
Then we hit intermission.

Avery's expression captures the moment perfectly. I think that's how we all felt.
Immediately after the lights come on the evil genius masterminds behind Sesame Street Live strategically send out a few guys with hundreds of Elmo balloons. The children scream in excitement and the parents are forced to appease them. For $10 a balloon!!!
Luckily Eric and I aren't that easily persuaded.
Okay, maybe we are.
We then start into the second act and they start off with a bang - the crowd favorite - Elmo's World.

I mean this guy is bigger than Elvis, Madonna and Michael Jackson combined. CELEB.

Oscar made an appearance!

Have you seen the dvd "Zoe's Dance Moves" with Paula Abdul? Classic. Quite popular in the Marcy household.
They weren't messing around and definitely gave you an ending to remember. Mardi Gras theme (minus the beads, parade and other rated R stuff).
BAM.
Just like that it was over. I turned around and literally every other child in the row behind us was having a meltdown. There was so much screaming and crying in the background it sounded like white noise. These guys threw us into a whirlwind of color, singing, dancing and pure overstimulation for an over an hour and then all of sudden they pulled the rug out.
Unfair.
I get it. I'd be crying right along with those toddlers. Oh, did I mention our toddler was having her own little meltdown? Was perfect right until the end. Then tried to run on stage and freaked out that daddy wouldn't let her. Understandable, right? :)
We calmed her down and headed home.
So Elmo is king for now.
And we are all still recovering from that episode of Sesame Street Live. Can't wait to go again!! :)
