Getting Avery to pose in a picture.....wait, just getting Avery to pose in a picture is tough. But I was going to say, getting Avery to pose in a picture with her little bro has proved almost impossible!! She's just not into it.
While I can count the number of pictures I have of the two of them together on one hand, I will say that we have seen a few little breakthroughs recently. The other day, we were all in the kids' room goofing around, Holden was laying on a blanket on the ground, and out of nowhere Avery ran over to him and gave him a huge hug and snuggle. Melted my heart. Eric and I looked at each other in total disbelief.
Then last night Avery and I said good night to Holden as Avery was off to bed and I thought I would throw out a "why don't you give Holden a kiss goodnight". And shockingly, she went for it! Right on the lips. Again melted my heart.
These may seem like insignificant moments to you - but to me - they are huge milestones! Moments I won't forget.
Oh - and Avery started off calling her little bro "Holdie" and it has sort of morphed into "Oh hee". But you can't say it in a normal conversational tone, it's more of an excited low yell. That's how she does it. You know how marines do the "hoo rah" chant? Well just change the words to "oh hee" and that's what Avery calls her brother.
