So here ya have it.
My girl turned four. My little baby girl.
Yep, in a blink she went from baby to girl.
Avery is a tough cookie, but all girl these days. Loves everything princess. Everything. Knows all of her Disney characters by name and loves all of that princess {expletive}. My favorite saying of her's though, and I'm not sure I can argue with her premise, is "Avery's a princess, Holden's a prince, Daddy's the king and Mommy's the Queen". Yes - MOMMY'S THE QUEEN. I mean, I said she was brilliant, didn't I?
She's become very inquisitive and can ask the most endearing questions. "Are you and daddy going to go fall in love?" "When I'm a mommy I'm going to marry Holdie in a church" When we tell her she's too little or young for something she'll ask "well maybe when I'm a mommy? maybe?" She loves jewelry and clothes and likes to add her two cents in "I love your necklace, I love your earrings, I love your bracelet, and I always love your ring"
Oh she makes my heart sing.
Like I said she's tough. She's demanding. And she knows what she wants. (no clue where any of these traits would come from). When she wants to be, she can be a major pain in the booty. She refuses to wear her hair up in ponytails anymore - it always has to be down. She also refuses to wear pants - it's dresses and skirts only for this one. And hopefully everything is covered in glitter.
She loves school. Loves her friends and loves being social. I adore seeing her run up to her teachers and throw her arms around them with a big ole' hug. Oh but did I mention, she's not so into boys? When I ask if she ever plays with any of the boys at school she usually replies "no" when pressed further "I just don't want to play with the boys". And yes, for the record, I am ok with this attitude. Hopefully it remains until her mid-20's.
She's so into her sports and loves ballet. Of course you can appreciate that I adore the combo.
Oh, she loves her brother. Little Holdie. She'll even say "isn't he so cute?" She loves to hug him so much, it often verges on the side of wrestling. Oh, I know we will get there someday probably soon. But for now, virtually no physical fighting and I'm again ok with it.
Sometimes I think I'm looking at a reflection of myself. I know she's her own little person and will grow to be her own big and very strong person. And I'm just happy I can call her mine.
Four Years Old.
