100 degrees and no power

Oh this heatwave.  Is Horrible.  At Midway airport yesterday they said the heat index was 113 degrees.  113 degrees!!  That's not supposed to happen in the Midwest!

So what little treat did we get yesterday to help deal with this heat?

A power outage.

Unbelievable.

I put Holdie to bed and about 20 minutes later everything sort of went...."wah wah wah".


We eventually realized our car was stuck in the garage so a trip to my mom's wasn't a possibility.  We were hopeful it wouldn't last too long.

And then about an hour and a half later - TA DA - power on!!  FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES.   Then back to nothing.

So we got out the candles and Avery was loving it.  Trying to blow out every candle and singing "Happy Birthday".


So why not get out the camera you ask?

So I did.

And after what seemed like 24 hours, but really was maybe 3, while in the middle of taking this picture the power came back on!

And our frigid AC could blast once again!!
