We kicked off the Easter festivities on Saturday by attending our local egg hunt run through our park district. We were in for a treat and were obviously the rookies here.
When they say 10am sharp, they mean 10am sharp. We had about 7 seconds to brace ourselves and then Avery and I were thrown into the fire. Now as some of you know, I can be a bit competitive so I was ready to get serious, but we were up against too much. The veterans had scouted the good spots and knew where to attack first to get the most eggs.
We did our best (which is all you can ask for right?), I think Avery was shocked at what seemed like the fastest 15 seconds in her life, and we ended up with a handful of eggs. You've never seen thousands of eggs gobbled up so quickly by about 1,000 toddlers, okay maybe 100 (we were in the 2-5 age group). It was a scene.
And most importantly, we will be ready for next year. Don't you doubt it for a second.

| even the practice egg hunt for the 1-2 year olds was at warp speed. Holdie just looked on. |
The Easter Bunny was in attendance as well, and a line quickly formed to take pictures with the big guy. We ummm opted not to take pictures directly with him....so I took a couple pics and we said "hi!" on our way out.
