So, clearly I'm a bit behind and these are a little old at this point....but still worth posting. Since our last post we've enjoyed a fabulous 4th of July weekend, a great weekend back in Detroit with family and now just this past weekend, some time back home in Chicago in the heat and humidity. My feet and hands are so thankful!
So backtracking just a bit....
I love that we have the beach right at our fingertips. But it is definitely one of those things that when it's right there, you don't take advantage of it. I'm determined to give Avery some time at the beach this summer!
A couple weekends ago, we decided to take a little walk to the beach, just me and my girl.
First stop - you know it - Starbucks.

Then off to the beach.
Have I ever mentioned, I love this city?

Avery hasn't been in the sand since last summer and despite her brilliance, I'm pretty sure she doesn't remember it.

The sand was HOT! We didn't last too long barefoot.

And this is when a big strong daddy would have come in handy. I couldn't get the stroller through the sand. We never made it to the water. Normally, I would find a way to make it work, but with this belly I just didn't think it was going to happen. So, we watched some volleyball and enjoyed ourselves, despite never touching Lake Michigan. :(
How many cities have this combo? Beach volleyball + highrise.

Avery decided to take a break and watch a bit.

Bruce Springsteen was blaring in the background. What's the only logical thing to do when you hear the Boss belting through the sound system?
Dance. Of course.

Picking some flowers / weeds.

Oh - but there's some John Cougar playing now.
Get your groove on.

Avery decided she wanted to take the stroller for a little walk. Just a little one.

Avery loved people watching. And she loved pushing the limits with me too. She never went too close, but she liked to see how far I would let her go.
I know, shocking.

And this just cracked me up.

This is totally unrelated, but happened to be the same day. Avery was adamant about helping me with her lunch. Part of her lunch was a ham and cheese roll-up. She helped "accessorize".

yum. yum.
