Both the kiddos have been in school for about three weeks now. We had a week of phase-in days, so had some time to work into the schedule. Avery is full-day, three days a week. That afternoon nap - yep, had to totally give it up. She had been inconsistent with it, but many days over the summer would still take one. Now - all gone.
Holden is three mornings a week, just for a couple hours. It's amazing the difference between the oldest and the youngest. With Avery, the anxiety (on both of our parts) for her to be off at school by herself. That first day, the bawling, the crying....which occurred for those first few days. Holden - completely different story. He was basically like "peace out". Wanted us out of there asap. He's just happy to finally be at school, playing with trucks, playing with other boys. Really couldn't be more content - well, he would likely be happier if he was there a full five days a week. His teacher claims he's the best at "cleaning up" in the class. haha.
So into the school year we are.
I captured a few shots of our first day...oh, and the bandaid above Avery's left eye? Yep, deep gash above her eye, inflicted around 7am that morning. Perfect. And yes, an iPad was involved. We got the bleeding to stop (not an easy feat), threw on a couple butterfly compresses, a pink princess bandaid, and off she was. I had to bring her in that afternoon to the doctor. It may have actually been a blessing that we waited - since we used the butterfly compresses the wound had already started healing. We were able to avoid stitches and the dr just used some glue. But one question, why is it always on the face?!?!
And here's an outtake for ya. Pretty much sums it up.
