Her poor little left cheek.....

We were back in Michigan for the weekend to celebrate Aunt Emily's baby shower. We had a busy, but great weekend and I hope to post pics soon.

The morning of our departure back to Chicago Avery was running at Grandma and Grandpa's house and bam......face right to the brick in front of the fireplace. She took it like a champ, cried quite a bit, let us clean off the blood. She had a nasty scrape on her cheek, but we were lucky as it could have been much worse.

As the morning continued it seemed to spread and she had quite the shiner to be proud of.

It doesn't end there.

On our drive back to Chicago, we were almost home and suddenly hit major traffic getting into the city. Literally as soon as we started slowing down to hit the traffic jam before Lakeshore Drive, Avery started projectile vomiting. Everywhere. About 5 times. All over herself, all over the car, all over Grammy. All over. I felt so bad. She was soaked in her own vomit, we were sitting in traffic with nowhere to go and as you can imagine, the car smelled lovely. Avery seemed a bit scared like she didn't know what was happening (and so was mommy) and then afterwards proclaimed "yucky". Right on.

So it was quite a day for our little one. We made it home and immediately jumped in the bathtub. Avery was fine and didn't seem sick at all.

Oh, and did I mention, her 2-year molars are coming in so we are also dealing with a continuous runny nose and diaper rash. That's just the bonus.

Now I just don't know what to do with my poor little girl and her poor little left cheek. It's quite the war wound.

Bringing back the always classic "Avery face".

About 24 hours post-trauma. Not looking so hot.

And yes, the hair is a situation. But at a time like this, who can worry about taming the fro?!
